Wheelchair Diaries: One Step Up Discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Reid Davenport MFA '16

Join the Stanford Medicine Abilities Coalition (SMAC) and Stanford Department of Art and Art History, Film and Media Studies Program for a discussion and Q&A with filmmaker and Stanford alum Reid Davenport (MFA ’16).  The films must be viewed ahead of time. We will not be showing them during the hour.

When Reid Davenport was discouraged from studying abroad during his junior year of college based on his disability, he was more than a bit surprised. Davenport decided to travel with a cameraperson throughout Europe, documenting the lives of Europeans with disabilities and exploring the social impact of inaccessibility.

The live discussion event by Zoom is open to the public. Register here.

Access to two of Reid’s short films, Wheelchair Diaries: One Step Up (Trailer) and A Cerebral Game (Trailer), will be provided for Stanford affiliates to view in the week before the live event (closed captioning and audio described versions available). Community members and those outside of Stanford who wish to attend the discussion may already have access to view his films through affiliation with other universities or their local library card on the film streaming site Kanopy.

Please also view these additional videos to learn more about Reid.
