The Department of Art & Art History invites you to join us for the catalog launch of Shifting Fields: Contemporary Chinese Painting. The exhibition, currently on view at the Stanford Art Gallery, brings together a diverse group of paintings by ten accomplished and promising artists from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.  This exhibition marks the U.S. début of many of the artists. Spanning multiple genres and incorporating unconventional materials, the works on view present the concerns and talents of young artists working within and beyond both Chinese and Western painting traditions. The exhibition's curator Xiaoze Xie, Paul L. & Phyllis Wattis Professor of Art, will be present to lead an exhibition tour and answer audience questions. One of the artists in the exhibition, Argus Tsz-leong Fong, will also be in attendance. Catalogs will be available to attendees.
