2024 Winter MFA Documentary Film Screening

Screening of films by first-year MFA students in the Documentary Film Program. Q&A with filmmakers to immediately follow the screening. Free & open to the public.

• Afar by Ma’ayan Porat and Yue Wu | Two filmmakers document their journeys of creating a new home while observing each other's struggles with womanhood, success, and immigration. Together, they offer a heartfelt exploration of cultural contrasts and the universal quest for belonging in a foreign land..
• Through the Looking Glass by Yuxuan Ethan Wu and Alem Kent | Glass as a man-made object is created out of human’s intention to form, contain, and separate spaces, but what happens within these spaces? This film explores moments in time through the looking glass and what is reflected back at us.
• Nap time by Pamela Martinez and Zach Ben-Amots | Work doesn’t stop, even during naptime. Actually, especially during naptime.
• Instruments of Power by Elisa Leiva and Sofia Stærmose Hardt | Ropes, rosaries, bullets and papayas. Humans manipulate the meaning of these disparate instruments of power, weaving a reflection about bodily autonomy and the desire for anonymity.

VISITOR INFORMATION: Oshman Hall is located in the McMurtry Building on Stanford campus at 355 Roth Way. Visitor parking is free all day on weekends and after 4 pm on weekdays, except by the Oval.
