Livien uses the language of painting and soft sculpture to investigate social narratives embedded in the surface of the city. Pairing tactile palettes with porous and flexible materials, she proposes synergistic relationships between the urban environment and its inhabitants.

In Turnstile, text-based and botanical motifs trickle across the spray-painted facades. As these marks accumulate, they seek to dispute the rigidity and dominant order of the symmetric base.
