About

Theo Rigby is a former photojournalist turned documentary filmmaker, educator, and interactive storyteller. Frustrated by lack of nuanced coverage on the immigrant experience, he has been focusing his lens on immigrant and undocumented communities in the U.S. for the past decade. After shooting photographs for dozens of national and international newspapers, including the New York Times, Newsweek, People, and National Geographic France, still images became too quiet. Theo began making documentary films as the War in Iraq broke out in 2003 and after attending the MFA Documentary film program at Stanford University, won a Student Academy Award for his film Sin PaĆs (Without Country) which went on to be Nationally Broadcast on PBS's premiere series, POV. He latest interactive storytelling project is Immigrant Nation, which strives to tell the collective immigrant story of the U.S. through short documentary films, user-generated storytelling, live events, and social media.
