Sofía's research focuses on intersections between US Latinx and Latin American contemporary art, with particular attention to photography. Her work engages with questions of place, embedded histories, collective memory, archives, and the politics of space.

As the former Curatorial and Education Fellow in US Latinx Art at the Whitney Museum, Sofía contributed to Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art and no existe un mundo poshuracán: Puerto Rican Art in the Wake of Hurricane Maria. She holds an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA from Columbia University.
