I study contemporary film and media with an interest in the history of the recent past. My research revolves around post-cinema, psychoanalysis, documentary, and experimental film and media. I serve as co-chair of the Digital Aesthetics Workshop at the Stanford Humanities Center and the co-chair of Stanford Cinematheque. I also edit the catalog for the thesis show of the Stanford MFA program in Documentary Film. My writing has appeared in the Brooklyn Rail, Screen Slate, Filmmaker Magazine, the San Francisco Review of Whatever, and elsewhere.
