Martabel Wasserman

Martabel has an interdisciplinary practice at the intersections of art, activism and academic research. She received her MFA from UC Irvine with designated emphasis in Feminist Studies. She is currently a PhD candidate in Art and Art History with a minor in Comparative Studies of Race and Ethnicity. 

She has published in The Burlington Magazine, The Journal of Aesthetics and Protest and The Comparative Media Arts Journal. Solo exhibitions include “Rethinking Ecology” as part of the Museum of Art and History’s CommonGround Biennial in Santa Cruz and “Seashell Aesthetics” at Human Resources in Los Angeles. Recent group exhibitions include Pitzer College Art Galleries, Robert Berman Gallery and Elephant Art Space. Wasserman curated several exhibitions at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA, where she previously worked as the Curator of Community Engagement. Other curatorial projects have been exhibited at Human Resources, CA Cinefamily Theater, Maloney Fine Arts in and the ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives.
