Mads Lynnerup is an artist and educator, whose practice incorporates video, performance, sculpture, and installation. Lynnerup’s work is influenced by societal and economic issues and is a commentary in its own playful manner on everyday experiences as well as tendencies and trends within the art world. Most recently Lynnerup developed a series of sculptures that besides from their sculptural form also functioned as fitness instruments, which culminated in a video commissioned by Creative Time, PS.1 and MTV in New York. Lynnerup received an MFA from Columbia University in New York City and a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Lynnerup has an extensive national and international exhibition record and has been included in exhibitions at SFMOMA; The Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; P.S. 1, New York; Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (LA); and Kunsthalle Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany to mention a few. He is a Eureka Fellowship recipient as well as an Artadia and Toby Devan Lewis Award winner.
