Katherine Gorringe

Documentary Film and Video

About

A native Minnesotan torn between her passion for art, scholarship, and social justice, Katherine Gorringe received a double degree (Bachelor of Arts/Music) from Northwestern University in 2008, where she studied History, Gender Studies, Music, and Film.  She produced her first documentary film Los Vecinos about a group in Buenos Aires who place sidewalk tiles around their neighborhood in a courageous act of memorial and remembrance for their loves ones 'disappeared' during the 1970's dictatorship.  Since then she has worked for the award-winning New Animal Productions and independent filmmaker Laurie Collyer and has become a teacher, musician, goat farmer, and a filmmaker with a passion for beautiful and compelling stories.  She has a special interest in telling the stories of people and communities who resist the status quo and envision a better world.
