Danny Smith is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Art and Art History and the 2020-2021 Marian and Andrew Heiskell/Anthony M. Clark Rome Prize Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. His dissertation, “Dreaming in Public in Late Medieval Rome,” considers monumental depictions of dreams and dreaming in thirteenth-century Rome within shifting theological, scientific, and political conceptions of the oneiric in the Middle Ages.
