About

Anna R. Japaridze is a British-Georgian artist/filmmaker whose work alternates between gallery and cinema contexts. She endeavours to use documentary film as a medium for the creative restitution of possibilities hidden in the present moment.

Anna served as an Industry Days coordinator for the 2018 edition of Tbilisi International Film Festival, and is the recipient of a 2019 Bafta LA scholarship. In 2020, she was awarded a travel research grant from Stanford’s Centre for Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies to trace the historical development of a self-organised children’s shelter-turned-sustainable community model, which arose in Georgia as a spontaneous reaction to the societal turbulence that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union.
