Alum Soyoung Yoon Appointed Director of Whitney Museum's Independent Study Program

The Department of Art & Art History is pleased to share that alum Soyoung Yoon (PhD ’10, Art History) has been appointed director of the Independent Study Program (ISP) at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Yoon first participated in the ISP as a Critical Studies fellow in the program's 2006–07 cohort and has remained involved with the program as an educator and visiting faculty member. After earning her PhD in Art History from Stanford in 2010, she taught film and media studies and went on to hold faculty and leadership positions at The New School, Parsons School of Design, and Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.
Founded in 1968, the Whitney's tuition-free Independent Study Program is widely recognized as one of the most influential educational programs for artists, curators, and critics. Yoon recently served on a 15-member advisory committee dedicated to helping shape the future of the program before being named its new director.
