Printmaking and Photography Workshops for Stanford Staff
355 Roth Way, Stanford, CA 94305

Join us on Friday, July 18th for free Printmaking and Photography Workshops in the Department of Art & Art History!
Organized by A&AH staff and with support of a Stanford Campus Engagement Mini-Grant, this is a unique and creative opportunity for staff from across campus to socialize and explore the otherwise inaccessible printmaking studio and photography darkrooms. Participants will be allowed to choose one of the two workshops, where they will make several prints to take home, and be treated to lunch! No prior art making experience necessary, and all materials will be provided.
More about the workshops:
Printmaking (9:30am-12pm, room 102) - Participants will work with an etching press in a collage based printmaking process called Collagraph. Materials such as plants, fabric, string, and paper will be used to create a highly textured plate that will be inked and pressed. The resulting prints will reflect the textures and forms of the materials used in their creation. At the end of both workshops, everyone will have created multiple prints that they can keep.
Photography (1pm-3:30pm, room 009) - Participants will enter the photography darkroom where they will learn how to make Photograms, one of the oldest photographic processes. Once participants learn the technique, they will use the darkroom enlargers to create their own images from materials provided, including photographic paper and chemistry. Participants will also be able to bring objects from home to incorporate into their compositions. At the end of both workshops, everyone will have created multiple prints that they can keep.
Please use this Sign-up Sheet to request entry into one of the workshops by July 11th, the spaces will be filled in the order registration requests are received. Once all the spaces are filled a waiting list will be created. Lunch will be provided between 12pm and 1pm for all participants in the McMurtry Atrium.
