8th Annual Undergraduate Juried Competition
419 Lasuen Mall, Stanford, CA 94305
Reception: October 20th, 4-6pm.
(Installation: October 11th – October 17th, Deinstallation December 12th-13th)
The exceptional creativity found throughout the Stanford undergraduate student body can be witnessed once again in the return of the 8th annual undergraduate juried exhibition after a two-year pause. The works of art in this exhibit come from across campus, from students studying in a wide range of fields and coming from across the globe. Some students are recent arrivals while others have recently graduated. Many of these students have persisted and survived the pandemic through creative outlets represented in the gallery today. Drawing on vastly different personal experiences, all of these works share an essence of profound resilience for making a more habitable world either socially, culturally, politically, or environmentally despite the spill over of the pandemic. These works welcome you to a diverse creative wealth of world building and invite you to experience the emotions, insights, and creative minds of some of Stanford’s most artistically talented undergraduates.
It was a delight to jury this exhibit with my colleague Dr. Katie Dieter in African and African American Studies, and with the assistance of our Exhibitions Manager, Gabriel Harrison. Thank you as always to our wonderful Art Department staff for helping to bring this exhibition to life.
