Reconnect with the Department of Art & Art History

Join us for our Open House event on Friday, October 17. Alums from any class year are invited, and registration for Reunion Homecoming Weekend is not required. A mini-reunion reception for Art & Art History alums will be held from 2-3:30pm in McMurtry Atrium.

Open Calls

The Department of Art & Art History has an exciting array of opportunities for alums to showcase their work during our Open House event, including book talks, film screenings, and pop-up exhibits. Alums are invited to submit their work for inclusion.

Deadline to Submit: July 31

Selected participants will be notified in early September.

Please note: Travel expenses to campus cannot be reimbursed at this time.

Juniors Clara Galperin and Josie Hodson, both art history majors, work on their honors thesis proposals in the Bowes Art and Architecture Library.

Library Book Talks

In collaboration with Bowes Art & Architecture Library, we are seeking three alums to present on an in-progress or recently published book or article. Whether your work is scholarly, artistic, or experimental, we welcome diverse approaches and voices for our book talk event. Each presenter will give a 10-minute talk, followed by a 5-minute Q&A discussion. Talks will be held in-person from 10:30–11:30am.

Documentary Film Screenings

The MFA Documentary Film & Video Program is accepting submissions for two screening events:

Shorts Screening: A selection of 1-2 short films from department alums, each no longer than 20–25 minutes, followed by a brief Q&A discussion. This screening will likely be held from 1-2pm.

Feature Screening: One feature-length documentary film, between 60–90 minutes, followed by a brief Q&A discussion. This screening will likely be held from 3:30-5:30pm.

In-person attendance is not required, though participants are welcome to attend.

Solo Pop-Up Exhibit

One alum artist will be selected for a solo exhibit in the Miller Discussion Room. We are seeking a painter or photographer who can present 6-8 ready-to-hang works (i.e. framed with installed D-rings).

Exhibit Dates: October 16-17

Up to $500 in shipping costs will be reimbursed.
